Registering with the surgery
To register with the surgery:
- fill out an online registration form
- fill out our new patient health questionnaire
- visit reception when we are open and collect a paper registration form
When you register, it’s helpful to have your NHS number. You can use the NHS website to find your NHS number.
Please be aware that if you are out of the country for three months or longer, you will be automatically deducted from our patient list. You can re-register when you return as long as you continue to be in our current catchment area.
Named GP
All patients at Headstone Road Surgery have a named, accountable doctor who is responsible for coordinating their care.
Your named doctor will be allocated to you by the practice. You can still talk to or make appointments to see any of our doctors or nurses, not just your named GP.
If you have a preference and would like to request a particular doctor at the practice to be your named GP please talk to one of our receptionists.
Temporary Registrations
The National Health Service (NHS) is a residency-based healthcare system designed primarily for people who are ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom.
Our practice is currently experiencing very high demand and is significantly oversubscribed. As a result, we are unable to offer temporary patient registrations for visitors to the UK.
However, GP practices have a professional and legal duty to provide immediate and necessary medical care where this is required. If you require urgent treatment that cannot safely wait until you return home, we may assess your needs and provide appropriate care in accordance with NHS regulations and clinical guidance.
Please be aware that eligibility for free NHS treatment varies depending on your immigration status, country of residence, and the type of healthcare required. Some NHS services may be chargeable for overseas visitors.
If you are visiting the UK from overseas, it is strongly recommended that you should obtain comprehensive travel health insurance before travelling. Travel insurance can help ensure that you have access to healthcare services when needed and can protect you from potential healthcare costs that may arise during your stay.
