NEW Lung Cancer Screening Programme.

The NHS Prevention Programme helps people stay healthier for longer through early detection and supported self-management.
As part of the NHS 10 Year Prevention Programme, Headstone Road Surgery is working with RM Partners to launch a new Lung Cancer Screening Programme.

From 1 June, eligible patients aged 55–74 will receive a letter and be contacted within 14 days for a short phone assessment (around 15 minutes) to review their risk of developing lung cancer.  Patients identified at risk may be due to a past history of smoking.

Patients identified as higher risk may be offered a nurse appointment and, if appropriate, a CT scan at a convenient local location.

Lung cancer screening can detect cancer early — often before symptoms appear — when treatment is more likely to be successful.
